Rota Virus Vaccine

Rota Virus Vaccine:-

What you need to know..?

Rotavirus is a virus that causes diarrhea, mostly in babies and young children. Vomiting and fever can also occur in babies with rotavirus. The diarrhea can be severe and lead to dehydration.

Before rotavirus vaccine, rotavirus disease was a common and serious health problem for children in the United States and all over the world and that's what urged them to manufacture the vaccine.

Two brands of rotavirus vaccine are available:
Rotarix (2 doses)
Rotateq (3 doses)
Your baby will get either 2 or 3 doses, depending on which vaccine is used.
Your child must get the first dose of rotavirus vaccine before 15 weeks of age, and the last by age 8 months. Rotavirus vaccine may safely be given at the same time with other vaccines.
Almost all babies who get rotavirus vaccine will be protected from severe rotavirus diarrhea. And most of these babies will not get rotavirus diarrhea at all. Needless to say, Rotavirus Vaccine is specific to Rotavirus and will not prevent diarrhea or vomiting caused by other germs.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that rotavirus vaccine be included in national routine vaccinationsprograms, especially in areas where the disease is common. This should be done along with promoting breastfeeding, handwashing, clean water and good sanitation.
FYI, Rotavirus Vaccine is available in 100 countries worldwide, in 80 of them its MANDATORY!
